Trustees approve recreation master plan

PENN YAN— It took less than 10 minutes for the Penn Yan village board to work through the agenda of a special board meeting July 9. The main purpose for the meeting was to adopt proposed amendments to the Parks Master Plan, which were approved. Although the matter was passed quickly, Village Recreation Director Dan Doyle said the matter has been in talks for about two years.
In other business: Approved village clerk/treasurer Shawna Wilber to write checks as necessary for filing/recording mortgages for the Community Revitalization Program. Mayor Bob Church said the authorization was given so there is not a wait for the next village board meeting. The village board meets once a month on the third Tuesday.
• Approved payment in the amount $3,300 to J.L..Vasile Construction. This was the first payment for roof repair at the water treatment plant. The second payment will be made after the job is completed.
• A change was approved for Dahlia’s facade grant/loan. The original amount approved at the May village board meeting, $9,000, was less than the cost of the project; $10,000. Up to $10,000 can be approved for projects. Also approved was a grant/loan of $2,500 for Longs’ Cards & Books. The amount approved in June was $2,200, however that was lower than the bid cost. Both projects were approved through the Community Revitalization Program.
Approved the annual Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale July 31.
The next regular meeting of the Penn Yan village board will be at 7 p.m. July 20 in the village hall on Elm Street.
