Watkins Glen planning board 8/17/11

Meeting:  The Watkins Glen planning board met Wednesday, Aug. 17, for one hour and 10 minutes.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were no members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The final planning board site plan approval was given to Tops Friendly Markets to build gas pumps at the Watkins Glen store.  Board chairperson Joseph Fazzary said Tops still has to get permits from the village and state before actual work can begin.  Fazzary added he would have liked to have those other permits in place, which includes approval to put gas storage tanks under the ground.  However, Tops representatives have said they would not be able to get permits without the final site plan approval.  A public hearing was held about the project, but no comments were given.
    • Modifications to the village's raw water intake plant were approved.  The cost of a previous plan to build a two-story plant was more than the village budged for, so plans were changed.  Code Enforcement Officer Gordon Wright said the plans were just amended and did not need re-approval.
Discussion without action:  Wright told the board he issued three certificates of occupancy for: the village hall, Garcia's Mexican Restaurant, and the Orient Hibachi Buffet.  Clerk Donna Beardsley said the next Watkins Glen village board meeting on Sept. 6 will be back at the remodeled hall.  There will be an open house from 5 to 7 p.m.
Upcoming meetings:  The next planning board meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.  The meeting will take place in the village hall.
