Watkins Glen village board 11/16/09

Meeting: The Watkins Glen village board met Monday, Nov. 16 for about an hour, plus executive sessions before and after the meeting.
Attendance: All board members were present.  There were four members of the public in the audience.
Action: The board approved to allow Mayor Judy Phillips the authority to sign a pending approval on an encroaching property battle.  The board members agreed that once all of the attorneys have settled everything, then it was okay for Phillips to sign.
• The board also approved an application by Hunt Engineers to agree to pay a $750 fee to the railroad.  With the fee it will allow Hunt Engineers to place a permanent easement under the railroad.
Discussion without action: Trustee William E. Smagner questioned the fact that their auditor said that they were not in compliance with their currant contract for three years.  She said that they could be in danger of losing their contract if something does not change by Sept. 1, 2010.  Smagner suggested that the village look to some other person at least for the electric.  A request for a proposal will most likely be put out in the future, and Clerk Donna J. Beardsley will go out for a bid no matter what.  Smagner and other board members will meet with the auditor on Tuesday, Nov. 17 to see if she can guarantee anything.
Upcoming Meetings: The next regular village board meeting will be Monday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.
