Wayne town board 8/9/11

Meeting:  The Wayne town board met Tuesday, Aug. 9, for one hour and five minutes.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were 13 members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The board changed the names of the officials who could access an inactive Five Star Bank account.  Supervisor Steve Butchko explained the names listed on the account are of two people who are no longer board members.  He added if they didn’t make the change by November, the funds would go to the state.  Board member Barney Hubbs said they discussed transferring the funds to an active account at last month’s meeting.  Butchko said the board needs to first see if there are any stipulations attached to the money first.
    • Board member Lois Wood asked if the town highway barn roof needed to be resealed.  Even though the highway superintendent is currently out of the area, someone will check on it.
Discussion without action:  Butchko will start working with Tyrone concerning properties that fall on the town line between the two municipalities.  He said he ultimately wants to have it in writing that if a property is taxed by the town of Wayne, that property will also comply with Wayne town codes.  He explained this would be an update to an agreement from 1955.
    • The board asked about a trailer parked on a concrete slab within the town.  Zoning Officer Gill Harrop said as long as the trailer is not permanently connected to sewer and water, it falls under the rules for a recreational vehicle.
    • Historian Bob Canfield told the board last week he found out about a Wayne resident who fought in the Civil War.  He said Robert Shipley was a first sergeant in the Union Army who received a medal of honor.
Upcoming meetings:  The next Wayne town board meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.
