Who will be the 2016 Miss Penn Yan?

PENN YAN--The annual crowning of Miss Penn Yan will take place during this year's StarShine event Friday, Dec. 4, in the village. Each of the 12 contestants will discuss what they would do if they were in charge of Penn Yan for one day. Profiles for each contestant are listed below:

1. RACHEL BOGART
The daughter of Phoebe Bogart and a junior at Penn Yan Academy, Rachel is sponsored by the Milo Lodge 108 Free and Accepted Masons. She is a member of Big Brother Big Sister and has participated in the Penn Yan Academy musical production of "The Sound of Music." If Rachel was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would show respect and give thanks to parents and elders of the community.

2. NATALIE COLON
The daughter of Margarita Morehouse and a sophomore at Penn Yan Academy, Natalie is sponsored by Johnson Costello Number 355 American Legion Auxiliary. She plays softball and volleyball, and has participated in drama club musicals. If Natalie was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would spend the day fixing the sidewalks in need of repairs.

3. BELLA CONDELLA
The daughter of Dan and Joelle Condella and a junior at Penn Yan Academy, Bella is sponsored by the Loyal Order of Moose 2030. She is a varsity cheerleader at Penn Yan Academy and a member of Big Brother Big Sister. She also works for various local restaurants. If Bella was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would create a help service for teenagers to call.

4. CALYSTA CONRAD
The daughter of Melissa Conrad and a junior at Penn Yan Academy, Calysta is sponsored by the Penn Yan BPO Elks Lodge 1722. She helps with Penn Yan junior varsity and varsity volleyball, is a member of the track team, and participates in the ski club and the drama club. If Calysta was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would have a town picnic to encourage keeping the small town spirit alive.

5. ANNA DETAR
The daughter of Eric and Paula, Anna is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the Pennnnsylvania Yankee Theatre Company (PYTCo). Anna has participated in junior varsity cheerleading (fall and winter) and varsity cheerleading (fall). If Anna was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would work to eliminate stereotypes.

6. BROOKE DINEHART
The daughter of Jim and Kim Dinehart, Brooke is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the Loyal Order of Moose 2030. She is a member of the pep club, debate club, interact club, international club and FBLA. If Brooke was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would work to support stray animals in the community.

7. SYDNEY GIFFORD
The daughter of Alexa and Mark Gifford, Sydney is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the Penn Yan Lions club. Sydney plays junior varsity and varsity soccer as well as junior varsity and varsity softball.If Sydney was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would create a community cleanup day.

8. JANE MILES
The daughter of Susan Hayes and Doug Miles, Jane is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Jane played junior varsity volleyball and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, interact club, Youth Bureau, and FFA. If Jane was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would create a website of community service activities available in the area.

9. KAMRYN MORAVEC
The daughter of Kim and David Moravec, Kamryn is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Association, Inc. Kamryn is a member of the drama club. She has also participated in the Funanza and IBO Archery events and Christmas for the Needy. If Kamryn was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would educate and assist survivors of sexual assault.

10. ELIZABETH MORGAN
The daughter of Deven Moore and Matthew Fritz, Elizabeth is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the Izaak Walton League. Elizabeth played junior varsity lacrosse and was a member of the junior varsity lacrosse all-star league. If Elizabeth was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would create a program pairing off students and elders.

11. BRITTANY GILBERT
The daughter of Michael and Melissa Gilbert, Brittany is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the Penn Yan Rotary Club. If Brittany was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would take the elderly in care facilities on a field trip and helping make cards for their families.

12. AMY RIDER
The daughter of Lee and Chris Rider, Amy is a junior at Penn Yan Academy. She is sponsored by the Penn Yan Lions Club. Amy has received academic excellence and is the leo club secretary. If Amy was in charge of Penn Yan for a day, she would work to clean up the outlet trail and create activities for youth.
