Wood resigns as Odessa-Montour superintendent

ODESSA--Odessa-Montour Central School District Superintendent Christopher Wood announced his resignation Friday, Dec. 2 in a memo to staff.
Wood served in the position since April of 2015 and was previously the principal before being selected for the superintendent position.
In Wood's memo, he said Greater Southern Tier Board of Cooperative Educational Services Superintendent Kelly Houck would help in conjunction with the board of education in the process going forward.
Houck explained, "As mentioned in the statement provided by Mr. Wood on Friday, I am the interim superintendent until a new interim is identified, this person will most likely serve until the appointment of the new superintendent of schools at the Odessa-Montour Central School District. The timeline is something that the board of education will begin discussing and developing over the next few weeks, I am confident they will work toward having a new superintendent identified to be in place for the beginning, or as close to it, of the '23-24 school year."
In Wood's letter, he identified the physical, mental and emotional stressors of the superintendent job and said he would focus on family and personal well-being.
