Yates approves craft business permit

YATES COUNTY—The Yates County Planning Board approved special use permits for a Starkey resident to sell crafts from a 24-by-24 foot building and to a Middlesex motorcycle repair garage, Thursday, April 29.
Chairperson John Ritter said the planning board has seen both of these referrals before.  He explained the permits just needed to be changed to special use.
Starkey resident Robert Plattner requested the permit to sell homemade crafts from a 24-by-24 foot building.  Middlesex resident Justin DeMitry wanted a motor vehicle sale, service and repair permit for the business, 364 Power Sports.  However, DeMitry’s plan is just to repair and inspect motorcycles only.

The planning board also approved the site plan for the Middlesex Baptist Church to construct a 40-by-80 foot church activity center.  Ritter explained the site plan was specifically for a retaining wall.  He said the church intends to use a concrete base from a previous structure for the activity center.
The planning board’s bylaws were updated and revised.  Ritter said the bylaws must now be sent on to the county legislature.
The next Yates County Planning Board meeting is Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m.
