Yates chamber recognizes Snyder

DRESDEN—The Yates County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the year on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Dresden Hotel. The winter event had a tropical theme. Highlight of the evening was presentation of awards to outstanding individuals.
The Norman Snow Jr. Memorial Spirit Award was presented to Lauren Snyder. Snyder is coordinator of the Health Improvement Project in Dundee, Starkey and Barrington. For the past two years, the project has attracted residents of the area with activities and programs.
Dundee Farmer’s Market, Everything Dundee store, GED classes, and micro enterprise loans are some of the local projects that have been initiated under Snyder’s guidance. In accepting the award, Snyder said, “This means we can talk about health and business in the same breath.” Snow was a local businessman who was active in the Penn Yan Chamber of Commerce for many years.
The Emily Seager Memorial Award was launched last year. The award recognizes an individual who shows devotion to and involvement in their community. Jody Tyler, director of member services at the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, was selected as recipient of the Seager award.
The Robert Maxwell Memorial Award was established to honor a member of the chamber board of directors who exhibits dedication to the organization and community. This year’s recipient of the Maxwell award was Susan Baron. Baron is chairperson of the chamber of commerce board of directors and owner of Los Gatos Bed & Breakfast. Maxwell was a member of the Penn Yan Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
