Yates clerk will retire at year-end

YATES COUNTY--Twenty-year Yates County employee and most recently clerk, Lois Hall, announced last week that she would not seek a third term and would retire in December of 2023. Hall began with the county in the department of motor vehicles and was elected to the clerk position in 2015.
"It has been a pleasure to serve the people of Yates County over these years," said Hall in a prepared statement. "I have certainly enjoyed meeting so many people and assisting them in the DMV office and the Clerk's office. I have also made many friends in my time here which means so much to me."
Hall started her career at Jolley Chevrolet in 1974 and then transitioned to Community Bank in 1995 specializing during that time in customer service, accounting and automobile paperwork. Hall then moved to the county in 2003.
"Customer service has always been my number one priority," Hall said in the statement. "During my time here as county clerk, I have begun e-filing with the courts and e-recording of land records. I was most happy to play a role in the addition of much-needed security in the county office building."
Yates is in the process of dealing with the retirement of several high-profile officials. County Administrator Nonie Flynn will be retiring in May, over fifty-year Sheriff Ron Spike will be retiring at the end of 2023 and now Hall joins that list.
"I am looking forward to changing my priorities, spending time with my grandchildren, and having more free time," added Hall.
