Candidates will meet at forum on Thursday

PENN YAN--The Yates County SCOPE (Shooters Committee on Political Education) chapter will hold a 'Meet the Candidate Forum' Thursday night, Oct. 12 at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge on Main Street. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.
SCOPE Chairman John Prendergast said he has invited the seventh judicial judge candidates and the Yates County District Attorney candidates Valerie Gardner and Todd Casella to the forum.
Prendergast said, "We are not sure the judicial candidates will be able to make it-but the forum will mostly come down to the district attorney race candidates.
This will be the first public event that both Gardner and Casella will speak at since the Appellate Division decision to invalidate Casella's Republican petition. He will be on the ballot for the Independence and Reform lines in the November general election. Gardner is the Republican candidate.
Schuyler County
There will be separate event in Schuyler County for their respective candidates. The League of Women Voters of Schuyler County will host a Meet the Candidates night Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Watkins Glen elementary school auditorium. All candidates for Schuyler County and town offices have been invited to the forum.
Candidates for county offices will be given the opportunity to speak and answer questions from the audience. Candidates for town offices will be introduced.
