Hazlitt will host annual fundraiser

HECTOR--Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards will be hosting the 18th annual Seneca Santa fundraiser to benefit the underprivileged children of Schuyler County Saturday, Dec. 13.
Seneca Santa, a not-for-profit organization, was founded by a group of Watkins Glen businessmen in the 1940s to provide Christmas gifts for Schuyler County's underprivileged children to age 12. The not-for-profit organization accepts monetary donations as well as hats, mittens, coloring books and crayons, family board games and children's books.
In 2014, the organization will be serving more than 400 children in the county. Seneca Santa depends entirely on community support to fund its charitable efforts. The monies raised are used to provide an age-appropriate toy along with fruit, holiday snacks and the donation items. The annual fundraiser event at the Hazlitt family winery has raised more than $227,000 in its 17-year run.
The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. Hazlitt will have "community celebrities" behind the bars, specialty raffles, auction prizes to bid on and live music throughout the day. Admission into the fundraiser is a $10 required donation at the door. The fundraiser event is open to the public, while the winery will not be open for regular business that day.
