Middle school association taps Phillips

INTERLAKEN--The New York State Middle School Association announced Feb. 3 that Thomas Phillips will become their executive director after he leaves his current position.
Phillips is presently serving as superintendent of the Watkins Glen Central School District, a post he has held for the past 11 years. Phillips will be retiring as superintendent in the fall. Throughout his 33-year career in public education, Phillips has been an advocate of quality middle level education, according to the association. He has served the association as a regional director for 13 years, conference chair of the state middle school conference in 2001, 2009, 2016, and assisted the association with creation of the essential elements of standards-focused middle-level schools and programs.
