Milo residents question sewer rate increase

MILO--Following a new sewer rate increase for 2015, some Milo residents questioned the increase during the town board's regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 20 at the Milo town hall. Town Clerk Patricia Christensen said eight residents from East Lake Road questioned the reason for the $20 quarterly increase at the meeting, which puts the current rate at a total of $131.46 a quarter. Christensen said this increase became effective the first of the year.
The board responded by saying the town pumps are reaching the end of their life-span. The board said they would need to be replaced soon, with some pumps reaching a cost of around $2,000 each. The $20 increase was a way for the town to help provide for the replacements of the pumps nearing the end of their effective use.
