Odessa farm fined $60K for illegals

ODESSA--U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced Thursday, May 7, that a Schuyler County farm admitted to employing 10 individuals who were residing in the United States illegally. Glenview Dairy LLC, doing business as Bergen Farms of Odessa, pled guilty to attempting to harbor illegal immigrants before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci. The defendant was also sentenced to pay a $60,000 fine.
Bergen farms is located at 4060 Bergen Road in the village of Odessa in Schuyler County. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley E. Tyler is handling the case. Tyler said between 2012 and 2014, Bergen Farms employed 10 illegal immigrants. In addition, Tyler claims Glenview Dairy hired these people while knowing the individuals were residing in the United Stated illegally.
The plea and sentence are the culmination of an investigation on the part of special agents of immigration and customs enforcement, homeland security investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge J. Michael Kennedy.
