Odessa man dies from Cayuta crash

CAYUTA--Glenn Marsh, 58, of Odessa died Wednesday morning, Feb. 17, following an accident in the town of Cayuta Tuesday, Feb. 16. The accident occurred along Route 13, with Marsh being transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, where he later died from his injuries.
Public Information Officer Mark O'Donnell with the New York State Police said they received a call at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday morning reporting a serious motor vehicle accident along Route 13 in Cayuta. He said the driver of a northbound UPS tandem tractor trailer lost control of his vehicle on slush and ice, causing the vehicle to move into the opposite lane. The tractor trailer struck Marsh's southbound vehicle, causing it to go beneath the first trailer. Route 13 was closed for several hours following the accident.
O'Donnell said Marsh was extricated by the Odessa Fire Department and was then transported to Robert Packer Hospital with critical injuries. Marsh died at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday morning as a result of his injuries.
O'Donnell noted the New York State Police Accident Collision Unit is conducting an ongoing investigation into the accident, adding charges could be pending against the driver of the tractor trailer. He said the truck was out of Hammond, Indiana, while the driver was from Brewerton.
