Penn Yan performs 'Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr.'

PENN YAN--The Penn Yan Middle School will present "Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr." Friday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 11.
The musical is the story of a girl named Millie Dillmount, who moved from her small town to New York City in 1922, to marry for money rather than love, and soon finds herself falling for the flapper lifestyle. Everything is fine until she comes across a hotel, where she checks in, owned by sketchy Mrs. Meers, a white slavery ringleader in China, who is kidnapping all the young girls.
The performers wear tap shoes as part of their costumes while moving around the stage and dancing on top of props.

The cast provided a preview for the Penn Yan board of education Wednesday, Jan. 31. There will be four showings in the Penn Yan middle school auditorium. The dates and times include Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m., Saturday Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door.
