Rite Aid plans store renovations in Penn Yan

PENN YAN—Rite Aid spokesperson Ashley Flower said the Penn Yan pharmacy will undergo renovations beginning mid-october and running until early December. She said they are remodeling the building to fit into the company’s latest “genuine well-being” format, which centers around health and wellness products. Flowers said the Penn Yan location will hold a grand re-opening in January with special sales to celebrate the work completion. Flowers said the store would remain open during its regular hours during the remodeling process, but would not say how much the project would cost.
“Any time we decide to renovate or remodel a store, it is a significant investment for us,” Flower said.
Flower said in addition to aesthetic improvements like new lighting, and paint schemes, the store will feature an expanded product selection, organic and gluten-free food, and an expanded pharmacy. She said they will add a consultation room adjoined to the pharmacy area where patients can meet with their pharmacist to privately discuss their conditions and options for treatment away from the public. Flower said the room can also be used to privately administer immunizations, something she said customers have requested in the past.
Flower said the renovations will allow customers to find their way through the store easier than the previous layout. She said the store will have more signs for products, as well as have a wooden floor that directs patients to the pharmacy area.
Flower said the remodel also comes with another position called a “wellness ambassador” to act as a liaison between customers and pharmacists. She said it will be at least a part-time position.
