WATKINS GLEN--Watkins Glen will hold its annual Village Christmas celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, throughout downtown Watkins Glen.
The holiday event has something for everyone from student carolers, a festive parade with the arrival of Santa Claus and fireworks.
From 5 to 5:15 p.m., Watkins Glen Elementary students will sing Christmas songs in front of Maguire Chrysler Dodge at 502 N. Franklin St., said Carole Pierce, director of events for Watkins Glen Promotions.
The "Visions of a White Christmas Parade" starts at 6:30 p.m. at Specchio Ford, 602 N. Franklin St., Pierce said. The parade has more than 20 entries, including numerous fire trucks and the new Schuyler County Highway Department plow, she said.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 7 p.m. and will be at Famous Brands until 8 p.m., Pierce said.
After the parade, there will be carolers strolling up and down Franklin Street, she said. The event also features crafts, food vendors, wine tasting and local food sampling.
Village Christmas will culminate with a fireworks show at 7:30 p.m. at the end of the pier by the breakwall.
Franklin Street will be closed from Second to Seventh Street during the event, according to village police.
Village Christmas will coincide with the Friday on Franklin event hosted by the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce.
