Yates County Fair opens July 12

YATES COUNTY (7/6/16) --Celebrating its 177th year of operation, the Yates County Fair will officially begin next week. Running for five days, it kicks off Tuesday, July 12 and concludes Saturday, July 16. Located at 2370 Old Route 14A, the fair is one of the oldest continuously operating fairs in the United States. Festival activities will include live music, carnival rides and games, food vendors, a demolition derby and truck pull.
Tuesday, July 12, the fair will be open from 6 to 11 p.m. The annual Figure Eight Race takes place at 7 p.m. at the main grandstands. The Fearless Flores Family Circus also begins at 7 p.m., while the third annual Keuka Clash Demolition Derby begins at 7:45 p.m. The City Limits Band will perform at 8 p.m.
The fair midway will be open from 4 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, with the Central New York Mini Modified and Garden Tractor Puller Association starting at 6 p.m. Creekside Entertainment will perform at 7 p.m. in the entertainment barn.
The midway will again be open from 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday, July 14, with the farm tractor pull starting at 6 p.m. Virgil Cain will also hold a free concert at 8 p.m. at the entertainment barn for a three hour concert.
The annual Kids Day is Friday, July 15 beginning at 1 p.m. along concession lane. The 2.6 Diesel Truck Pull begins at 6 p.m., with the Outlaw Pulling Series begins at 7 p.m. Friday's free concert features Agonal Rhythm Band at 8 p.m. The fair will be open until 11 p.m.Friday night.
The fair midway runs from 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 16, featuring the demolition derby at the main grandstands at 7 p.m. The Ruby Shooz will perform a free concert at 8 p.m.
