Curtiss Museum has announced its 2024 Winter Lecture Series

HAMMONDSPORT--The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum has announced its 2024 Winter Lecture Series. The first lecture will be on Thursday, Jan. 25, and the lectures will run through April 25. The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum is an educational and cultural institution that collects, preserves, and interprets transportation modes and regional history, and celebrates the innovations and accomplishments of Glenn Hammond Curtiss.
“The museum continually strives to offer new and exciting ways for people from all over the country to learn more about Glenn Curtiss and his role in early aviation,” said Curtiss Museum Director of Education Carol Anne Barsody. “Hammondsport, NY proved to be a pivotal location in the advancement of aviation in the early 20th century.”

Aviation in the Mechanical Engineering Learning Studios at Cornell with Brian Kirby, Meinig Family Professor of Engineering & Director of Undergraduate Affairs of the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Associate.
• Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m.
The Aerial Experiment Association, a History with Carol Anne Barsody, Curtiss Museum Director of Education.
• Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m.
A Timeline of Early Aviation with Roger C. Thompson, Senior Engineering Specialist Mission Analysis and Operation Department at The Aerospace Corporation
• Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
Restoration Work at the Curtiss Museum with Brian Shoemaker, Curtiss Museum Volunteer and Secretary of the OX-5 Curtiss Wing 1.
“Our March presentation will be a lively overview of the Curtiss Museum’s volunteer restoration program - the projects, participants, resources, and goals that are so vital to this museum’s mission to celebrate the history of aviation and its contributions to the Finger Lakes region,” said scheduled speaker, Brain Shoemaker.
