FINGER LAKES--After months of planning and preparations for increased travel, visitors and traffic, the total solar eclipse will be here on Monday afternoon, April 8. Most of the Finger Lakes region provides nearly total or total eclipse sightings. Penn Yan is just on the line of totality and areas to the north provide a longer time to view the phenomenon where the moon passes between the sun and Earth, briefly causing darkness.
Educational gatherings and viewing parties are planned throughout the region, providing residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to experience this rare celestial event.
“We are thrilled to invite our community to witness the awe-inspiring upcoming total solar eclipse,” said Jessica Bacher, president & CEO of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce. “A variety of businesses have created exciting events for our residents and visitors to enjoy. We encourage everyone to take the time out of their busy lives and embrace this extraordinary moment.”
