Class of 2018 prepares for graduation

TRI-COUNTY AREA--Seniors at area high schools are preparing for their graduation ceremonies coming up this week and weekend.
Dundee will again be the first school to hold the commencement exercises, Thursday, June 21 at 6 p.m. This year the Valedictorian is Renee Wolverton, and for the first time ever there are Co-Salutatorians, Colin Howell and Joshua Kane. The ceremony takes place on the front lawn of the school weather permitting, otherwise, the program can be held inside.
Both Penn Yan, Hammondsport and Odessa hold their graduations Friday.
Penn Yan Academy will celebrate the class of 2018, Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m. Graduation will be on the turf field if the weather cooperates. While Penn Yan does not name a class valedictorian or salutatorian, there are speeches from class officers reflecting on their time at Penn Yan.
Hammondsport will begin the graduation ceremony at 6 p.m., Friday. Rachael Derby is the valedictorian of the class of 2018. Paige MacDonald is the salutatorian. Like Penn Yan and Dundee, the ceremony is held outside if possible.
Odessa-Montour Central School District will bid farewell to the class of 2018, Friday, June 22 at 6 p.m. The ceremony is held in the Fetter-Brown Auditorium. This year the valedictorian is Hailey Perraut and the salutatorian is Colin Marsh.
Watkins Glen will hold their commencement exercises on Saturday. The program begins at 2 p.m., June 23. The valedictorian is Maria Clara Chedzoy and the salutatorian is Trevor Thurston. The Watkins ceremony is held in the high school auditorium.
