Dundee fund reaches 15 organizations

DUNDEE—The Dundee Area United Fund begins its 57th year of operation this week, as village residents will be receiving letters asking for their support Thursday and Friday, Sept. 26 and 27. Joan Washburn said the donations will go to 15 agencies and organizations within the Dundee community, which includes groups like the Dundee Library, the Dundee Area Historical Society, the Children’s Center, Meals on Wheels, and Dundee Boy and Girl Scouts. Washburn said advanced mailings were sent out Tuesday, Sept. 10, with bulk mailings being sent out later this week.
Washburn said the goal for this year is $26,500. She said 97 percent of the funds raise go to these organizations, and the only expense of the operation is in postage fees. Washburn said donations will be accepted throughout the fall, with distribution beginning in January of 2014.
Residents can mail their donations to Dundee Area United Fund, P.O. Box 15, Dundee, N.Y., 14837. Checks should be made payable to the Dundee Area United Fund.
