Hector Fair starts Thursday

HECTOR--The 60th annual Hector Fireman's Fair is coming this week to the east side of Seneca Lake. The Valois-Logan-Hector Fire Department field will be transformed into a fair with attractions for the whole family, while the parade will attract fire departments and area groups from around the region. The event runs from Thursday, July 26 to Saturday, July 28.
Thursday and Friday the fair will open at 5 p.m. and on Saturday at noon. The rides and concessions are available beginning an hour after the gates open.
Thursday evening is the family night at the fair with half-price ride tickets. There will also be bingo at 6 p.m. and music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Friday will feature the always popular parade on Route 414 at 7 p.m. Spectators can set up along the road from the Dandy Mart to the fire department. The announcing will take place in front of the firehouse. There will again be bingo but at 8 p.m. and Nick Kody and The Creek Road Band will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday afternoon will feature a chicken barbecue and car show, and firefighters will put on a demonstration at 5 p.m. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. and The Gabe Stillman Band will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. The fireworks are set to go off at 10:30 p.m.
Throughout the weekend there will be 50/50 drawings, animals, the cake booth, book tent and other attractions. Updates can be seen at: www.facebook.com/hectorfire/.
