Odessa announces interim superintendent

ODESSA--The Odessa-Montour school board appointed Peter Punzo as the interim-superintendent during their meeting Thursday, Nov. 13. Punzo will be replacing Jim Frame, who is leaving the district to become the Greater Southern Tier Board of Cooperative Educational Services (GST BOCES) district superintendent staring Dec. 1.
"Mr. Punzo was recommended by Kevin MacDonald, the superintendent at Genesee Valley BOCES who is our search consultant for the new superintendent hire process, by Jim Frame and by others," School Board President Robert Halpin said. "He expressed interest in the position and is highly qualified."
Halpin said Punzo was the assistant superintendent at GST BOCES for 26 years and was the interim superintendent at Waverly Central School District last year. He said Punzo will be paid $525 per day worked. Halpin added to his knowledge, Punzo has not expressed an interest in becoming the permanent replacement for Frame as the Odessa-Montour superintendent.
"The board hopes to have the selection process completed by February," Halpin said. "The vacancy announcement has been published and we are in the process of accepting applications."
Frame has been the superintendent of schools in the Odessa-Montour Central School District since 2005. He served as a high school principal in O-M for one year prior to that. Before his employment with Odessa-Montour, Frame worked in the Elmira City School District for 12 years as a guidance counselor at Southside high school and Ernie Davis middle school. He also served as summer school principal. Frame worked in the Shenendehowa Central School District in Clifton Park, from 2002-2004. Frame replaces Horst Graefe, who retired from the position in June.
