Icy Keuka Lake jolts ‘polar bears’HAMMONDSPORT-The Switzerland Inn on the east side of Keuka Lake hosted their annual Polar Bear Plunge, Saturday, March 29. With water temperatures in the 30s, and the lake still frozen over except near the shore, jumpers made their way out on the main dock to dive, cannonball or splash into the water. Spectators lined the decks to watch the ‘polar bears’ make the plunge, while the Wayne Fire Department wore cold-water wet suits to monitor the action. |
