WATKINS GLEN--The Watkins Glen Police Department has issued a number of press releases in response to complaints they have received in recent weeks.
The first notice on Tuesday, Oct. 31, alerted residents, “We have received multiple reports of vehicle thefts in the overnight hours from Oct. 30 to Oct. 31. Please check your cameras for any suspicious activity and report it to our office at 607-535-7883.”
A follow-up on Wednesday stated, “The Watkins Glen Police Department urges residents and visitors to keep all car doors locked and homes and buildings properly secured and locked.
Over the last several nights, it has been reported that an unknown suspect or suspects have attempted to break into multiple homes around the village. There have also been several reports of items stolen from unlocked vehicles, as several vehicles were ransacked.
Please keep your eyes and ears open and if you see anything you believe to be suspicious, please contact 911 immediately.”
Another notice was posted Monday, Nov. 6 again reminding residents to keep car doors locked. Police urge anyone who sees suspicious activity to call 911.
